THE FEAST TEAM MEMBERS PORTAL

Feast Team Guide

The ICEJ's Feast of Tabernacles is always a wonderful foretaste of that future time when all peoples will come up to Jerusalem to celebrate Sukkot. It is a prophetic statement that our Lord is indeed coming soon. It declares to Israel and the Nations that a new day is dawning. The King is coming, and we are here to rejoice in His transforming power and soon arrival.

Important Information for all Team Members

Important Documents to bring

Passport Validity — Critical

Your passport must be valid until at least

25 March 2026

Individuals have been denied boarding flights to Israel if their passport is not valid for six months or longer from their arrival date to Israel.

  • Your ICEJ Acceptance Email
  • The address of the Yitzhak Rabin Guest House (required for the airport security check)
  • Copy of your Medical Travel Insurance coverage
  • Copy of your Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

Clothing

Climate Note

Temperatures in Jerusalem are quite warm by day and cool by night at this time of year. Bring "wash and wear" clothing where possible — laundry facilities are available but limited.

  • Modest attire is appropriate, especially when visiting holy sites
  • Comfortable walking shoes and sandals
  • hat for outdoor working times
  • For evening celebrations: smart casual clothing is appropriate
  • Logistics team: jeans, t-shirts, knee-length shorts, closed shoes or boots
  • light sweater, jacket, or cardigan — often needed in the evenings

Personal Items And Valuables

Budget Suggestion

Bring an additional

200–400 ILS (approx. US $60–120) per week

to cover extra food, transportation, and incidental expenses.

  • Toiletries (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, makeup, etc.)
  • Country flag — for Feast venues and Jerusalem March
  • Phone charger and Israel adapter
  • Alarm clock (or phone alarm)
  • Laundry detergent for hand washables
  • Snacks and food treats to supplement provided meals
  • Ladies: small zip-close handbag; men: consider a money belt
  • Comfortable shoes and hat

Valuables Warning

Please avoid bringing additional articles of value to minimize the risk of theft. The ICEJ regrets it cannot accept responsibility for the safety of your personal possessions.

Medication

ICEJ does not provide basic medications. The cost of visiting a doctor for a prescription in Israel is very high. First-aid during the Feast is for emergencies only. A personal supply of the following is strongly advised:

  • Your prescribed medications
  • Aspirin, pain relievers, anti-histamines
  • Band-aid strips
  • Lomotil or other anti-diarrhea medication
  • Tablets for nausea / indigestion
  • Cold and sinus medication
  • Sunscreen and post-sun cream
  • Insect repellent
  • Ensure tetanus injections are up to date
  • Gatorade powder or other electrolyte drink to prevent dehydration
  • Diet-specific food items to supplement nutrition during your stay

Electrical Appliances

Israel Voltage: 220V / 50 cycles (European Standard)

A converter is necessary for all electrical equipment from countries with different voltage — especially from the United States. Purchase your adapter before departure.

Transportation from the airport

From Ben Gurion Airport, take a train or bus to Jerusalem. Once you reach the Jerusalem Central Station, take a Gett Taxi to the Yitzhak Rabin Hostel.

Note on Gett Taxi

Gett Taxis are also available directly from the airport, but this is a more costly option. Taking the train or bus to Jerusalem Central Station first is recommended.

Accommodation

Yitzhak Rabin Guest Hostel

Please Note: The Yitzhak Rabin Hostel is NOT owned by ICEJ.

Accommodation is dormitory-style — three to four people per room. Storage space is extremely limited. We strongly suggest limiting yourself to

one suitcase

From 15:00 onwards

Arriving earlier and needing a bed that morning will incur an additional day charge for the room.

Official check-out: 11:00. Email housing@icej.org for other arrangements prior to arrival.

Additional Nights Policy

Maximum of Two Extra Days

400 ILS per day

No more than two days before or after approved dates. ICEJ will not make reservations beyond this window — arrange your own accommodation in advance if needed.

Non-Participating Spouses and Children

It is no longer possible for ICEJ to arrange accommodation for family members who wish to attend the Feast but not serve on a team. These individuals must make their own accommodation arrangements.

Morning Devotions

We strongly recommend attending morning devotions during your time of service. These are planned as moments of encouragement, spiritual nourishment, and fellowship — essential in binding us together in unity of purpose as we serve together during the Feast.

Note on Attendance

Failure to attend morning devotions will negatively impact participation in future Feasts.

Shabbat & Jewish Holidays

Shabbat Guidelines

From Friday afternoon until Saturday evening, almost all stores and restaurants are closed. Any shopping must be done before Friday afternoon.
